Hang a bell on a string by the door. Every time you take your puppy out to go potty, ring the bell. Eventually they'll learn to ring it themselves to let you know they need to go!

Sprinkling a little dried shredded coconut on your puppy's food every day is a parasite preventative. This is how... Though your puppy will love to eat it, they cannot digest it. The coconut will then travel through your puppy's digestive tract and scrape it clean of any parasite that will try to attach itself there. You'll see coconut shreds in their poop...but no parasites! This is especially helpful if they spend a lot of time in dog parks, visiting farms, or playing with other dogs.

Cranberries are great for UTI (urinary tract infection). Throw a few in their food bowl several times a day. They'll gobble them up happily! And it should clear up in a few days!

Plain yogurt with probiotics is excellent for their digestion. One tablespoon a day will keep your pup's system in great shape!

Giving your pup some crate training "practice time" during the day will greatly increase your results at nighttime. Make sure they've already gone potty. Then put them in their crate and say "bed time" (or whatever phrase you choose). Then walk away and completely ignore them for 1/2 hour. They may whine for a bit, but they should calm down (and maybe take a nap). Then praise them when you let them out.

Dogs understand routine. Having a set time or schedule for meals, walks, bedtimes, etc... will help them to adjust more quickly to a new home. They'll know what to expect in their day.

Every breed of dog has their own specific issues. Dachshunds are no exception. (Skin problems, IVDD in their backs, eye conditions, etc...)
